When Rendi asked Mr. Shan if he dropped something down the well, Mr. Shan replied, “No, it’s not in this water…it’s in a different water.” Think about everything you’ve read about Mr. Shan so far, and give your opinion: What do you think Mr. Shan is searching for that’s “not in this water,” and what do you think he means when he says “it’s in a different water?” Be sure to give reasons for your opinion.
