Write a multiparagraph response to the following questions:

  1. How does Skloot convey various perspectives about complex issues in Part 2 of the book?

  2. What impact do her choices have on the reader’s understanding of the complex issues—race, ethics, class, and science—in the text?

In your response, be sure to do the following:

  • Identify and discuss at least three persons’ perspectives conveyed in the book. One of the perspective’s should be Skloot’s.

  • Identify and discuss the techniques used by Skloot (diction, tone, imagery, figurative language, representation of key persons, structure, or syntax) to convey the perspectives.

  • Form a claim about what impact her choice to present multiple perspectives has on the reader’s understanding of the key issues in the text.

  • Use evidence from the text to support the connection between her authorial choices and their impact.

  • Use academic vocabulary to precisely express ideas.

  • Use the proper conventions of usage, mechanics, and punctuation.
