Culminating Task

We will plan, write, review, and revise a character analysis essay on the protagonist of the novel, Okonkwo.

  • Lesson 1:

    We will prepare for the Culminating Task by brainstorming and then reviewing and organizing our notes for our essays.

  • Lesson 2:

    We will begin organizing and drafting our character analyses.

  • Lesson 3:

    We will use our outlines to complete our character analysis drafts.

  • Lesson 4:

    We will read each other’s essays in order to improve the writing and analysis in our essays.

  • Lesson 5:

    We will work with partners to proofread and revise our character analysis essays.

  • Lesson 6:

    We will submit our essays and reflect on the Culminating Task, concluding the unit by engaging in a whole-class discussion about the unit’s Central Question. We also discuss Culminating Task topics that relate to the unit and identify possible pathways to explore for the Application Unit.

  • Lesson 7:

    In a culminating activity, we share the knowledge we have gained and the connections we have made by reading our independent reading texts.
