We will peer review and revise the support of our controlling idea in our Culminating Task essays.

  • Can I develop and clearly communicate meaningful and defensible claims in response to the Culminating Task that represent valid, evidence-based analysis of Bissinger’s perspective and Friday Night Lights?

Activity 1: Read – Discuss

We will engage in a peer review of our content in our support paragraphs to help us strengthen and revise them.

Step 1

Trade drafts with a partner.

Review each of the support paragraphs. Then, jot down some notes for your partner about what is working effectively in their controlling idea and support, and how their controlling idea and support could be improved. Be ready to share your ideas with your partner.

Step 2

Take turns reviewing and discussing the results of the peer review and your feedback notes. Be sure to ask questions or for additional information as needed to understand the feedback and its implications for revision.

Share your ideas during a whole-class discussion to help develop your knowledge about supporting your ideas in your own essays.

Activity 2: Write

We will begin drafting our conclusion and introduction and revising our support paragraphs.

Individually, begin planning and drafting your conclusion and introduction and revising your support paragraphs. Use your Note-Taking Toolsand all preparatory notes. Consult with an elbow partner as needed to work through and discuss your ideas and approaches.

Activity 3: Write

For homework, we will finish drafting our essay.

For homework, finish drafting our essays. Be ready to share in a peer review in the next lesson and receive feedback on your whole essay.
