Section 6: Overview

Culminating Task

We will draft and revise the Culminating Task and reflect on our learning and the knowledge we developed throughout the unit.

  • Lesson 1:

    We will deconstruct the Culminating Task.

  • Lesson 2:

    We will begin planning and drafting the Culminating Task essay.

  • Lesson 3:

    We will peer review and revise support of our controlling idea in our Culminating Task essays.

  • Lesson 4:

    We will peer review and revise the organization and coherence of the Culminating Task essay.

  • Lesson 5:

    We will work on revising and editing the Culminating Task essay.

  • Lesson 6:

    We will submit and reflect on our Culminating Task essay and conclude the unit by engaging in a whole-class discussion about the unit’s Central Question: How do we construct the story of a complicated history?

  • Lesson 7:

    In a culminating activity, we share the knowledge we have gained and the connections we have made by reading our independent reading texts.
