Activity 1: Discuss
We will work collaboratively to analyze The Book of Unknown Americans through text-dependent questions and discussion.
Work in groups and engage in a literary discussion of The Book of Unknown Americans, using the Final Discussion Questions Handout.
During the discussion, you are responsible for leading the discussion on at least one discussion question. You are also responsible for participating with a minimum of two thoughtful comments in the discussion of each question.
Activity 2: Read
We will review the expectations of the Section 4 Diagnostic.
Review the Section 4 Diagnostic Checklist. Ask your teacher clarifying questions as needed.
For homework, review your Vocabulary Journal. Identify a significant word or words that you would like to use in your response to Part 1 of the Section Diagnostic.
Review your Mentor Sentence Journal. Select at least one technique that you plan to use when writing your response to Part 1 of the Section Diagnostic.
Activity 3: Write
We will deepen our understanding of the novel.
