Frankenstein and the Importance of Human Connection

In this section, we will continue to explore what it means to be human as Frankenstein shifts in both tone and perspective. Additionally, we will closely examine the structure and genre of the novel.

• Lesson 1:

  We will gain historical insights into the Age of Enlightenment and use the new knowledge to deepen our understanding of Frankenstein.

• Lesson 2:

  We will continue our study of Frankenstein, focusing our attention on human connection as it relates to answering the Central Question: What does it mean to be human?

• Lesson 3:

  We will investigate Frankenstein through the lens of the romantic literary movement while continuing to explore what it means to be human.

• Lesson 4:

  As we begin to prepare for the Section Diagnostic, we will engage in close reading activities to solidify our understanding of the text’s big ideas.

• Lesson 5:

  We have examined human connection among the characters in Frankenstein. To demonstrate our understanding, we will write responses that outline the significance of human connection in the novel using specific details from the text.

• Lesson 6:

  We will review feedback on the Section Diagnostic. We will use the feedback to make revisions to our work.

• Lesson 7:

  We will share the understanding we have gained through our independent reading and continue reading our texts.
