  • Can I explore a variety of credible sources to research a contemporary issue using an organized and dynamic process of inquiry?

  • Can I gather and organize relevant and sufficient evidence to demonstrate an understanding of my chosen topic?

Activity 1: Read

We will review our norms and plan to succeed on the section 2 diagnostic.

Review the norms and the plan you developed for your paired research.

Activity 2: Read – Discuss – Write

We will switch sources with our partner to evaluate the sources’ relevance and credibility.

Review the 1984 Research Guide.

Switch your independently found source with your partner. Use the information and guiding questions in the 1984 Research Guide to evaluate the source’s relevance and credibility.

Once you have each done your independent analysis of your partner’s source, discuss your findings. Revise your research plan.

Activity 3: Read – Write

We will work on our research and annotated bibliographies.

Follow your plan and use this time to research and work on your annotated bibliographies.

Activity 4: Read – Discuss – Write

We will reflect on our work to determine how prepared we are for the Section Diagnostic.

Respond to the following questions with your partner:

  1. Did we meet the goals we outlined in our plan? How do we know we met our goals? Provide evidence.

  2. How did each of us contribute to the group?

  3. On a scale of one to four, how well do we understand _____ (the topic, our research, the texts we read, the presentation plan)?

  4. What do we need to continue doing, or start doing, to be an effective team?
