Activity 1: Read – Write

We will participate in an interactive gallery walk to deepen our understanding of themes in Romeo and Juliet.

For Part 2 of the gallery walk, you and your partner or group will rotate and examine the responses from the other groups. Referring to your notes from the Text-Theme Note-Taking Tool, provide feedback for each group’s chart. Your feedback must address at least one of the following questions:

  1. What makes this claim strong?

  2. What might be areas of improvement or areas of inaccuracy in the claim?

  3. What are other pieces of evidence to consider?

  4. Is the paragraph accurately punctuated?

Activity 2: Write

We will revise our claim based on feedback from our peers.

For Part 3 of the gallery walk, return to your group’s original chart paper. Examine the feedback. Revise or refine your claim based on the feedback.

Activity 3: Read – Write

We will participate in a final rotation of the gallery walk and make any necessary additions or revisions to our text-theme Note-Taking Tool.

For Part 4 of the gallery walk, rotate among your peers and do a final gallery walk, examining the revised thesis statements from each group. Add notes to your Text-Theme Note-Taking Tool based on your observations. You will use these notes to prepare for the Section Diagnostic and the Culminating Task.
