Activity 1: Write

We will continue drafting our résumés.

Create the header for your résumé. Use the example to write in your name and contact information.

Create section titles to include the hard and soft skills you came up with in the last lesson.

Place action verbs before your hard and soft skills. An action verb goes before a skill to showcase to employers and colleges the action that took place.

Reference the texts we read in the last lesson, "High School Résumé: A Step-by-Step Guide" and "How to Write a High School Résumé for College Applications," if you need further assistance.

Activity 2: Discuss

We will close out by sharing action verbs.

Share an action verb or two that you used on your résumé that captures the skill you are showcasing.

If you did not complete your résumé by the close of the lesson, complete your résumé for homework.

Activity 3: Read

For homework, we will review the Foundation Unit research and Presentation Guide and note how it will aid us in our research.

For homework, familiarize yourself with the Foundation Unit Research and Presentation Guide.

As you begin the research process in pathway teams, you will start using the Foundation Unit Research and Presentation Guide. The guide provides an outline of processes and activities, and associated Reference Guides, to help your team research your chosen pathway. Note: This foundation unit does not culminate with a presentation. The foundation units in the other grade levels do.

For this unit, you will be working with section 1 and 2 of the guide. You may use other sections of the guide in later units.

Consider the guiding questions as you review section 1 and 2 of the Foundation Unit Research and Presentation Guide:

  1. What information does the guide provide that can help you conduct research?

  2. What processes and questions can you use to commence your research?
