Activity 1: Discuss

We will participate in a culminating activity where we share what we have learned through our independent reading.

Follow instructions from your teacher on how to participate in this culminating independent reading activity.

Activity 2: Discuss

We will reflect on what we have learned and what interested us while reading our independent reading texts and consider how we may want to pursue the topic or text further during the Application Unit.

Use the following reflection questions to determine what you might want to pursue further regarding the topic or text and to evaluate how well you engaged in the Independent Reading Program.

  1. What aspects of the text that you read interested you the most?

  2. What questions could you answer by reading the text?

  3. What knowledge did you gain and what connections to the unit did you make?

  4. What did you learn about yourself and your interests from reading the text and discussing it with your peers?

  5. To what extent were you able to follow the pacing plan you made at the beginning of the unit?

  6. To what extent were you able to communicate your summaries and analyses of the text and the knowledge you gained?

  7. What might you do differently for the next independent reading opportunity?

Note what topic or question you might want to pursue as a result of your independent reading on the Application Unit Potential Topics Tool.
